Make Your Voice Heard And DU A Poll All At The Same Time!
My local newspaper, the Columbus Disgrace.......er, Dispatch, is conducting a poll right now regarding the public option. People in FAVOR of the public option are currently winning, which is amazing considering the fact that the Disgrace is a right-wing-owned rag (the Wolfe family has endorsed every Republican Presidential candidate since Woodrow Wilson--he was the last Democrat they endorsed). You do have to "register" by signing up with an e-mail address and password, but they've never contacted me, so I'm pretty sure you can just put fake information in there (assuming you don't want to register with your real information).

It would be a dagger to the heart of the right-wing mouth-breathers of Central Ohio to see this go overwhelmingly in favor of the public option, so I would appreciate it if you could help DU this poll AND leave some good comments while you're at it. FYI, I've already voted twice and left two separate comments.

Here's the link: http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/national_world/stories/2009/10/27/hotissue_1027.html?sid=101

Thanks for your help in dragging the people of Central Ohio kicking and screaming toward enlightenment.

1. I bet I know why it's winning
I'll bet you the reason the yes's are ahead, is because you have to register on that site to vote.

Freepers don't register, they freep. They freep so much they brag about it and create posts telling people where to go and skew the results with multiple votes. If they have to register a name for each vote, they are less effective because it slows them down.

2. Actually, I've Voted Twice And Only Registered Once
But I see your point that Freepers don't want to register even once. It's a really easy register, though. As far as I can tell, you don't even have to give them your real e-mail address, and then you can vote as many times as you want.

6. Your second paragraph sounds exactly how I would describe DU'ing a poll.
Skewing the results. What's the point? Pride?

3. It's losing ground. Ask if they think Nationwide doesn't have panels to decide what health care they
receive.

Said that in my third reply. My comments haven't been approved yet though.

7. My In-Laws Live In Worthington
Where are you working in Columbus? And staying in Worthington? I'm in Hilliard, and as you can see by the subject line, my in-laws live in Worthington, so I'm pretty familiar with the area.

11. my work is actually in Delaware County
I move every 3 weeks around the U.S. and map counties for gov't studies. I am staying near I-270 and High St. This area is not what I expected: Lots of new development and some really nice areas. I will be in the general area until the end of the year and am hoping to experience some of the interesting stuff before I leave.

Nationwide and higher taxes not being a bad thing didn't get approved. Fuckers.

9. That's Weird
I've had like 4 of my comments approved so far, and they've been fairly incendiary (not too bad, but far from milquetoast). All I can think is that you either used bad language or they're disallowing your comments because they found out the e-mail you used to register was fake (I don't know if it was or not, but I'm trying to figure out how I'm getting my comments approved and you're not).

13. Thanks, Guys & Gals, For Helping Out

As of right now, the tally is up to 61% FOR and 39% AGAINST the public option. Oh, how the right-wing mouth breathers must be seething over this one. This has got to be a dagger right through their tiny, black hearts.

And the funny thing is, when you read the comments, everyone voting No repeats ALL the EXACT SAME talking points (you know the ones, "government can't do anything right," "government will put the insurance companies out of business," "everyone's gonna die," etc.) Someone voting Yes refutes all those points, and then more and more mouth breathers come in, vote No, and say the EXACT SAME things, completely ignoring the earlier posts. When you shoot down their talking points, THEY HAVE NOTHING ELSE, so they figure maybe if they just repeat them, they'll become true. Pathetic.

One of them even had the nerve to say, "the vast majority of Americans don't want the public option." I felt compelled to point out that the latest polling shows that 57% of Americans favor the public option, that when the public option is explained to people, that number rises to 80%, and that the results of the very poll he was taking indicated that 61% of HIS NEIGHBORS wanted the public option. These right-wingers just cling to these myths for dear life.
