AP: "U.S. military officials insisted neither crash was believed a result of hostile fire, although the Taliban claimed they shot down a U.S. helicopter in the western province of Badghis. The U.S. did not say where in western Afghanistan its helicopter went down, and no other aircraft were reported missing."

When things such as torture photos are seen as likely to embolden the opposition, the truth is withheld from the public. Do you doubt that our military would cover up hostile-fire incidents in order to keep morale high? UK and the US don't want the public to know what was done to Binyan Mohammed, a detainee.

1. I don't see how this keeps morale high. More importantly, you'd think they'd WANT to report it...
...if hostile forces took American lives, if only as a justification of the time and money spent over there.

"See, they are the bad guys! See? SEE!?!?!?"

I get what you're saying, I just don't know if this is one of the instances where the Military would feel the need to cover it up.

3. Three. 3 helicopters simply crashed today. 2 simply crashed into each other
and the other 1 simply crashed all by itself, out of sympathy for the other 2.

4. Worn out parts..poor maintenance? War is expensive...
..especially in the mideast where sand is a factor. Any mechanic will tell you that even a little sand in critical parts is a disaster...

6. Agreed
I served in the Army for 4 years and yes, shit does happen.

I was in a traing exercise once and was able to change tank assignments during a night mission. That night the tank I was originally supposed to be in fell over into a small but steep ravine, killing the tank commander who knew better than to be sitting in the suicide seat at night.

Shit happens, it just does.
