Do they really think they can pass off a crappy bill as "bipartisan" and we'll clap for it like trained seals just because one moderate Senator is on board?
Is bipartisanship going to pay my medical bills? Who in the world, outside of Washington DC gives a damn whether this bill is bipartisan or not? How does the bipartisanship of this bill affect our daily lives 1/1000 as much as what's actually IN the bill?
2. I think the Dems are hoping Snowe will convince those
Blue Dog Dems to sign on too. MAYBE Collins will join her as well. This could be an insurance policy to reach the needed 51 votes if too many Dems chicken out.
5. The logic is that by having, Snowe, the 2 remaining blue dogs and 1 joe traitorman will say...
"If snowe is doing it then it's ok for me to support it then"
Of course what the white house is forgetting is that the people that oppose the public option are not motivated by what snowe is doing. They are motivated by campaign contributions from the health denial companies.
Right now the RW is pissed at Snowe for even considering a vote, and the Left is pissed at the Dem congress for bending over backwards to Snowe's conditions. I don't see how Congress can come out of a "bipartisan victory" with anybody but themselves satisfied with the results.
8. Could it be that Obama knows he wants something different than us, & wants to blame bipartisanship?
That's the only thing that makes sense right now. It's not that he wants to change the bill to make it bipartisan, it's that he wants to make it bipartisan so he can have something to blame the bill's progressive shortcomings on.
I could give a rats ass if she votes for the bill or not. So long as Dems let a bill go to the floor, then we're good even if Biden has to cast the 51st vote.
