Faux News: "Wake Up America, YOU Can Still Stop Obamacare"
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2009/10/21/liz-peek-obama-voters-bored-health-care/

I predict that (1) Health Care Reform will become a reality, (2) Americans will really appreciate it once it's in place and working, and (3) the right-wing propaganda machine will regret that they gave it the label of "Obamacare" and spoiled all hope of selling a revisionist history that gives conservatives a share of the credit.

1. Republican TOADY talking points easy to pick apart and refute....
Let's pick the Republican positions apart.

"- Third, I am not aware of any effort to cut through the regulatory impasse and allow insurers to compete across state lines. The consequence of the status quo is near-monopolies enjoyed by insurers in most states; what is the point of that? There is some talk about removing the insurance industry’s exemption from anti-trust enforcement. Why not address the problem directly? "

In other words put the CART BEFORE THE HORSE and stop states from blocking crappy plans without any federal guidelines in place.

Republicans....

2. except that selling revisionist history to the nitwits who believe what they hear on Fox
is not any trickier than getting them to believe everything else Fox tells em. They'll lie about anything they feel the need to lie about, and their faithful followers will believe every word. But at least I sincerely hope you're right about REAL health care reform becoming a reality...i go back and forth between optimism and pessimism about whether it'll happen...

4. Why is fox still here.
There are 3 to 4 times more democrats in this country than republicans. Why in the heck can't we plow Fox the 24 hour republican info station under.

5. You are flat out wrong about people liking reform.
Wait until they find out that the public option is neither public nor an option, and that nobody gets anything until 2013. Wait until they find out that they will be forced to buy from useless shitstain intermediaries who will still have their preferred provider lists (no choice of doctor) and the power to deny claims. Wait until they are forced to fork over 10-12% of their income and still be on the hook for 30% of their medical expenses. Wait until the this huge wipeout of middle class discretionary income tanks the economy again.

8. I so hope you're wrong--I keep going back and forth--expecting an outcome like this
one day, and thinking no way will they sell us out this bad the next... and I just keep swinging back and forth between agreeing with you that we're all gonna screwed again, and thinking in the end, Obama's not gonna let that happen. I'm pretty pessimistic by nature anyway ( Cubs fan syndrome) but if they fuck us over on this, the Democratic party can probably kiss itself goodbye for a generation.

6. America elected Obama to be President
Faux sounds like they want to pretend that didn't happen and Obama is some sort of alien foisted upon us from outside.
