Let's talk about "fair and balanced"
If a news network truly is "fair and balanced", why do they have to use that as a motto -- ad nauseum?

Are they trying to convince their viewers? Their critics? Themselves?

To be quite honest, whenever I hear Fox spouting that nonsense, it reminds me of the clueless racist-- who when called on his or her racism -- immediately falls back on the old "I've got black friends" excuse.

And of those in the media who "tsk tsks" the White House for calling a spade a spade where Fox News is concerned, I have to wonder what's the motive.

1. I've always taken that slogan as a sneer.
It's like they'll say whatever they want to say, and they now they do it with impunity.

3. It's like "Honest John's Used Cars"

If you have to say it, you aren't.

It's like the hags that drive around with license plates that say stuff like "sexychick" or "hotstuff" then you get a look... ugh.

2. The truth is what I want
How do you balance the truth? With lies? No thanks.

Faux Gnus doesn't deliver the truth, and they don't deliver the news. They give opinion. You can have fair and balanced opinion, but you can't have fair and balanced news.

4. It's not even opinion, it's deliberate lies and misdirection.
If they just stated their opinion, I wouldn't have a beef with them. It's pure propaganda. No redeeming qualities.

10. I agree...
But there is no way to prove what they believe or don't believe. There are plenty of idiots out there who believe this crap.

I'm just happy to see Obama stick to his word! He said he was going to point out misleading information. There's another promise kept!

8. I can't say I would call ony one of these TV media flying graghic
swill news or fair let alone balanced. They all tout they are the number one source for all your news just like the product ad's all claim.

I am not a fan of anyone of them no matter what their or logo or name is. I don't watch Fox but to focus in on fox will only focus in on all the rest of them in time. The only good that might leak out of this bag of crap is they all will clean up their act and report the news instead of re-cycling one to three stories over and over again.

TV is just the news at all anymore , they are all corporate owned and many profit off wars and death and polluting the earth. People like to forget that little fact.

But the slogan is marketing to make their viewers feel good about watching misinformation all the time.
