Poll question: Which would be less of a sell-out to get corrupt blue dogs to back health care reform?
A "trigger" that won't start a public option immediately but supposedly would if insurance companies continue to behave as they inherently do.

An "opt out" that allows the most regressive conservative states to not implement a public option to keep their citizens on the private health insurance plantation.

I'm assuming most here think both are sellouts, so I'm opting out of including that as a choice. However, if enough people demand it, it might trigger it's addition (however that promise may be void if enough demands are not submitted in the editing period or if not one corrupt blue dog and one Republican more coherent than Charles Manson can be found to support the edit. Or if the insurance industry pays me not to change it.)

1. You shouldn't assume. Many here are okay with "opt out" option.

9. they're okay with options that will still lead to banruptcies and deaths, and forcing people to buy
An over-priced product that they can't be sure will pay their claims when they need it most?

2. Personally, I will work very hard to help a real DEM mount primary challenge to any dog
voting for either of those methods to fuck the people

3. Trigger mandates
Don't mandate the insurance until you can prove every last man woman and child can be covered in a manner that is not a strain upon their family.

4. How about this trigger.....
How about the elected officials actually do their job and work for the people. These are our employees telling us what they will or will not do for us. I am really getting angry over the games these people play and think that they are kings and queens.

5. The opt out is better for voters
It makes the states actively reject the PO, rather than passively waiting and seeing which way the wind blows.

6. I strongly support the idea of letting regressive red states fuck over their moronic citizens
by wedding them ('til death do them part) to the parasitic insurance corps. Let them suffer the consequences of their electoral actions.

The "laboratory of the states" is a concept by which we can show the superiority of our ideas versus those of the enemy.

Doesn't seem to sit right.........but on the other hand it could be an answer.

I have a republican governor, northern tier state, and I think he favors op out

Got this today....why do they have to count votes........aren't they paid to do a job and not worry how everyone else is going to vote?? What happened to the system of elected officials voting on their own??

FDL Action

Hi Firedoglake Activist,

Do you have 3 minutes this morning?

I need you to call your member of Congress this morning (your Representative, not your Senators), and ask them to support a robust public option.

Call this number and ask to speak with your Representative: (202) 224-3121

Clicking here will let us know you called.

We hear Democrats in the House are counting votes for a robust public option this morning. We need to flood their offices with calls. Please call your Representative now.

Thanks for all you do.

Best,

Jane Hamsher
