MSNBC just said that Deval Patrick has hired David Plouffe for his re-election
campaign.

I really gained a lot of respect for him when he was working with Obama.

1. Plouffe and Axelrod worked for Deval in 05-06
Before they worked for Obama. They are returning for another go-round in what will be a very difficult re-election campaign.

2. They said Obama is heading out to TWO fundraisers for Patrick right now.
Was Plouffe his (Obama's) speechwriter, too? I remember being blown away by his speeches and I think I read where his speechwriter was "moving on" after the election.

I've thought of that many times since, as I'm so impressed by Obama's current speeches and I've wondered if it's actually the same guy or if Obama just scored a couple of mighty talented speechwriters.

Didn't know about Plouffe/Axelrod/Deval. Thanks for the education! :hi:

7. Jon Favreau is his head speechwriter, but President Obama does a lot on his speeches, as well
Edited on Fri Oct-23-09 12:42 PM by MoJoWorkin
I believe John Kerry loaned Favreau out to Obama for help, if needed, during the famous 2004 Democratic Convention speech. I think Favreau was hired on later, when Obama became Senator, and has been with him ever since---during the campaign, and now as Director of Speechwriting in the White House.

I read that President Obama gives his speechwriters fits, as he sometimes waits until the last minute, and re-writes a lot of the drafts he is given--often staying up late the night before a major speech.

12. That's funny about Obama giving his writers fits -- but how could he NOT
wait until the last minute -- he's so busy!

9. Because Deval Patrick came into office with great promise
and has not been able to deliver on that promise for a variety of reasons, some self-inflicted.

4. me too
Hell I gained a lot of respect for the who Obama clan, they're all good at what they do. Just think what could be if the knuckledraggers who're dragging their fucking knuckles on every piece of legislation to come down weren't just flat saying no. They suck, it's just like when the big dog made it to the white house and bob can't get it up dole, first thing his weaselie ass said was well he won't get nothing past us, with that fucking bob dole smirk on his face that I just wanted to slap off there, we won't be voting for anything he wants to do and by doggies they never voted for a thing bill Clinton did. As I heard Bill say one day when he was talking about what he was able to accomplish and he said it was all without a single repuke vote, I reiterate without one repuke vote, looking straight into the camera when he said it too. All Clinton done wasn't good I realize that but he sure put the brakes on the neocon's strangle hold they had on our government for way too many years. I don't remember who said what but when Carter came in I'll guarantee you that whoever the repuke leaders were they were saying the same things that dole'y holie can't get it up was saying when Clinton came in same as with President Carter. They suck as a political party, as business owners, pretty much at everything, sometimes they make a good parent but that in itself is arguable.

I don't even want to talk to anyone who is a republicon anymore, scream at'em maybe but not talk.

5. Re: Clinton saying what he was able to accomplish without one Repub vote --
I've been thinking about that a lot lately -- not about Clinton -- but wondering if we have enough votes to just do what we want to do and in essence, just ignore the Repubs.

I'm listening to all this ongoing crap about Health Reform -- every day I'm convinced we're getting something different than the day before. Couldn't we just barrel along and do what we want -- in the House, Senate and then have what we REALLY want on Obama's desk?

During the Bushco reign, they didn't give a damn if they got a Dem vote or not -- we were non-entities. :grr:

We as dem's need to be on our congress critters like stink on shit to get this shit cleaned up and do it now fuck a bunch of worrying about hurting the mutherfuckers who got us in this mess feelings, hell start throwing their sorry weaselie asses in jail is what needs to be going on. sun'sa'bi'ouch'ches anyway. A lot of the dems are complicit in all this bullshit and we need to get rid of their asses first.

6. He did that a few months ago (I cannot remember exactly when).

While the fact that there are 3 candidates can in the end help Patrick, it will be a difficult campaign, with a conservative Democrat (Cahill) running as an independent and a moderate Republican (Baker), and an economical situation that is no better than elsewhere.
