Airport Worker Brek had made threats to dismember Obama’s body and feed the parts to animals
Edited on Thu Oct-22-09 01:26 PM by RamboLiberal
The 55-year-old Newark airport security guard arrested on charges he made threats against President Obama on the eve of his trip to New Jersey pleaded not guilty this afternoon in Essex County Superior Court in Newark.

John Brek, who was apprehended Tuesday night after two airport employees alerted police to comments he made about Obama, and who was later found to have a stash of 43 guns in his Linden home, appeared in court via video conference today.

-----

Brek is charged with third-degree making terroristic threats, third degree receiving stolen property and fourth degree possession of prohibited devices hollow point bullets.

Velez-Lopez denied a psychological evaluation and said some mention by Brek about ethnicity might bring additional hate crime charges. The judge set bail at $200,000.

-----

According to a report in the The New York Post, two Continental Airlines employees overheard Brek saying he had cut through an airport fence in order to shoot Obama. The paper, citing anonymous sources, added that Brek had made threats to dismember Obama’s body and feed the parts to animals.

This threat definitely needs to be investigated. If nothing else this guy is one stupid f*ck. One report I read said he has some brain damage from an auto accident. Also is a Republican and member NRA. http://blogs.news.sky.com/americanpie/Post:58786ab7-9570-43ed-9798-5405c46cab7c

I do as a gun owner disagree with the NJ law against hollowpoints - that is one stupid ass law. Hollowpoints are a safer round to bystanders in any gun used for self-defense.

10. Brain damage sounds about right.
People who really are likely to follow through on threats are the ones who don't announce it, unfortunately. Oswald didn't spend months proclaiming that he was going to snipe Kennedy from the window over the plaza. Sirhan Sirhan didn't provide advance notice either.

As for the hollowpoints, yeah, that's an incredibly dumb law. No doubt somebody fed the state legislature some kind of terror stories about bullets that could explode people's torsos or something. :eyes:

But I'm not a big fan of the East Coast, in general. Other people love it, but it's not my speed.

23. Technically, they're not illegal to own...
...It's just illegal to put them in a gun. Penalty is up to 5 years imprisonment per bullet. I don't know the original rationale, but it's probably based on some kind of urban myth, like the idea that teflon coated bullets go through body armor.

29. The landlords: "It might have been a figure of speech"
"An elderly couple who have rented out an apartment to Brek for 11 years described him as deeply patriotic, a longtime member of the National Rifle Association, and someone who enjoys weekend hunting trips. "It might just have been a figure of speech," said one of the landlords, who both insisted their names not be published. "He’s not violent, and I can’t even remember him being disrespectful.""
