why do so many disparate "groups" need protection?
Because at the core of our society, no one but the powerful and rich have ANY real protection from anything.

Everyone else has to fight over the crumbs the rich & powerful drop.

We are a litigious society..why?

because many of us walk around feeling constantly "wronged"..and for good reason most of the time.Every "group" has needs that are not being met, and haven't been met....well..ever.

Each group is vying for the same funding, and since it's a zero-sum game, every dollar that goes to "X", probably came from "Y" or "Etc".


There is a seemingly bottomless well of cash, when it comes to war or to political campaigning, but if it's a need for feeding poor people or housing poor people or even making less people poor in the first place, there never seems to be much funding available, and ordinary people are asked to "give until it hurts"...but even in that giving, the money is taking away from someone else.. their own families.

In a people-first society, work still gets done, people still are productive, kids get educated, doctors still practice medicine.

By assigning worth to a person, based on their social status or physical stature/medical infirmity, we separate them from "the rest of us", and it lessens us all.

Oprah Wiinfrey did a show about how women live, in other countries, and when she quizzed the Danish women about "socialism", they just said.. "we call it civilized"..
