Public Option now or we wait decades
President Obama said that sometimes Democrats are their own worst enemies: "Sometimes Democrats can be their own worst enemies, Democrats are an opinionated bunch ... y'all are thinking for yourselves," he said. "I like that in you, but it's time for us to make sure that we finish the job here. We are this close and we've got to be unified."

Of course, this was in praise of the Baucus Bill, which I think is a half-assed effort at appeasing Baucus' insurance bosses. See this disturbing piece by Bill Moyers about Max "The Puppet" Baucus:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg7xhTyOtAk

Obama has the cart before the horse, I think. He said that "for decades, the driving idea behind reform has been to end insurance company abuses and make coverage affordable for those without it."

The logical flaw inherent in this point is that the public option is incomparable in driving costs down, forcing insurance companies to compete, and broadening coverage to the most people. The Grassroots movement of the Dems have rallied around the PUBLIC OPTION not because we're an "opinionated bunch," but because we're smart enough to know it's the only way to stem the injustices and corruption that are endemic to the insurance charlatans. Baucus' Bill won't end the abuse; it will only require all of us to sign onto the insurance policies that are fraudulent to begin with.

Now it's time to get real change done, not the Baucus Bill. I mean the Public Option. We have an intelligent, reasonable Democrat in the White House and enough Democrats to effect the "change" that was promised in Obama's campaign. Let's force the Republicans' hand, and bring a real single payer Public Option to the people - let's tell the Dems in the Senate that if they don't stop a Republican filibuster, they're blackballed forever more. The House has done it, so why can't the Senate? No more excuses.

If we don't pass this now, there won't be another opportunity for years, if not decades. And our health and our children's health can't wait that long anymore.

9. I am currently in Seagate...near Coney Island. I go to Willimasburg most Fridays
to buy smoked fish at Acme Smoked Fish Co. on Gem St, near N. 15th/Norman St.

If you have not been there in a while, you would not recognize it.

You would not believe all the building and gentrification that has been going on.

It has become the new "in" place to live. They are building high-rise condos right on the water on Kent Avenue.

16. Thanks, Keep After It
Leahy said today that he thinks we'll get a public option. WE have to keep on this every single day to make it happen. That is how democracy is supposed to work.
