Which propaganda agency is paying for the movie
about the Georgia v Russia clash last year summer? I see Andy Garcia is playing the role of the lunatic Georgia president.

Tbilisi - US actor Andy Garcia has arrived in Tbilisi to portray Georgia's flamboyant President Mikheil Saakashvili in a film on the Georgia-Russia war of 2008, local television reported on Monday.

Harlin's film would follow an American journalist and a cameraman who get caught up in the fighting. Harlin said the movie would be a "strong antiwar statement".

Georgian media have raised questions about the film's impartiality, pointing out that one of the film's producers, Papuna Davitaia, is a pro-Saakashvili member of parliament.

Russian media have reported that Serbian director Emir Kusturica is also planning a film on the conflict from the South Ossetian point of view. Kusturica visited South Ossetia earlier this month and met with senior officials.

Georgia and Russia have competed to put their own spin on what happened during the war, which saw Russian forces pour into Georgia to repel a Georgian military attempt to retake the rebel region of South Ossetia.

1. You'll Know A Lot About The Movie...
...if you see Randy Schunemann as the "Executive Producer".

Actually the plot does sound interesting and it's pissing off all sides, then there must be some objectivity at play here. Nonetheless, I'll wait until it shows up on my cables...

my take on that 'war' was that georgia tried to reclaim south ossetia, an area adjacent to russia, that wanted to secede from georgia and that russian troops, which were stationed there at the request of south ossetia, chased the georgian troops back to georgia. wasn't that about it? just checking so that i can watch knowing that my version was close to accurate. i googled the producer mentioned and see he is with pnac so who knows WHAT propaganda will result.

btw, do you think could we get russia to invade OUR georgia? B-)
