1. wouldn't ANYBODY who subscribes to the PO be "without private insurance...?"
I mean, how many folks would buy both?

2. WTF is it about the word OPTION that these people don't get?
Seriously.

We need to take a clue from Glenn Beck and reframe this discussion to a point a 5 year old could understand (and repeat/explain) it.

5. The media has made us intellectually stupid
I agree, we need to reframe the debate and especially, stop letting the fucking Republicans define the debate.

8. That is exactly what I keep saying. I argued with a friend a few
weeks back - he doesn't want to have to go to a public option. I told him - OPTION - look it up. You don't have to choose it if you don't want. I thought I got through to him. Now tonight I get an email from him about not wanting to have choose the public option. Arggg. I think explaining it to a 5 year old might be easier.

11. Not only that, but if you have employer-insurance (think Walmart)
Edited on Tue Oct-20-09 09:47 PM by Ruby the Liberal
If they offer some high-deductible, shit plan, well - sucks to be you - you can't even opt in.

Ask your friend why the CBO is saying 3% will be eligible and expected to enroll.

Edit for clarification

3. Good signs in one way, but only 57 percent without conditions?
Years of brainwashing.

6. Still a solid majority. That would be considered a landslide victory in a popular vote election
30-40 percent of this nation is hopelessly brainwashed.

4. Then its not an option, now is it?
You can just throw em on the Medicaid roles if they "can't get affordable private insurance"

Country of fuckn morons.

9. The two questions
8. Would you support or oppose having the government create a new health insurance plan to compete with private health insurance plans? Do you feel that way strongly or somewhat?

36 strongly 21 somewhat

9. (IF OPPOSE/NO OPINION FOR GOVERNMENT PLAN) What if this government-sponsored plan was run by state governments and was available only to people who did not have a choice of affordable private insurance? In that case would you support or oppose this idea?

45 support 49 oppose

Questions 8 and 9 Combined:

76 support 23 oppose

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/polls/postpoll_101909.html?sid=ST2009101902502

Question 9 seems to assume the plan in question 8 is open for anyone to choose.
Since there is no public option proposed in any bill that offers a government plan to anyone that wants it I find these questions misleading and purposely confusing.
If anything it shows people believe and support reform offering a medicare for all choice. Nothing could be further from the truth.

14. I am close to the end of my COBRA
I stand with you. 2013 is not a waiting game, it is an eternity and I don't want to be jobless again when it kicks in.

15. Make sure you look inot the HIPAA conversion options
They'll cost about what COBRA costs, but as long as you don't have a gap of more than 63 days you're entitled to coverage at the end of COBRA.
