It's about the fact that there is not a relationship between CCW laws and violent crime rates. Not that CCW permit holders are committing crimes. The only reason that this is news worthy is due to the false claims that CCW permits would somehow reduce crime.

nope....if that were the case the vast majority of americans would have been dis-armed in 1791 when the 2nd amendment was ratified. Very few americans were in the army or militia in 1791.

They needed to be able to call up a civilian army who were already armed so they could defend the new country.

I disagree with you. The reason this amendment was added was because the country couldn't afford a standing army and the framers were afraid the British would invade, (which they did in 1812), so they decided to allow US citizens to form a militia and a militia needs to be armed. Hence, that "well-regulated militia" language.

This amendment is probably the most misunderstood and falsely interpreted. Support also swings back and forth. I remember second amendment arguments when I was a kid 40 years ago. So sooner or later, we will go back the other direction. Just give it time.
