Does anyone else think it's too soon for this memorial service?
Edited on Tue Apr-17-07 02:23 PM by marylanddem

Seems like a few days might have given people a bit more time to grapple with these overwhelming events rather than being rushed into
"healing" before really going from shock into grieving...Just a thought.

2. No. They're doing it so the kids can pay their respects and go home.
Most of the kids plan on leaving campus after the convocation.

6. I think the impulse is

"let's get this behind us as fast as we can" and I'm not so sure
that's the best way to deal with the horrific circumstances...

8. It wasn't a funeral but seems early to me too.
I had to look it up to see if it involves funerals.
I had no idea.

It certainly seemed religious to me and like a memorial and a pep rally.
Not to mention political and somewhat military like.

11. It's not a memorial, per say. More like a group prayer session. They
call it a convocation.

I don't have a problem with it.
