Poll question: How Strongly Do you Feel about Gun Control
Whether you are for it or against it, whatever your position is, how passionate are you about it?

A companion poll to this one --> http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=676612&mesg_id=676612

3. I thought about that, but it requires too many categories in my estimation
The other poll gives you the opportunity to do yea or nay.

5. All depends on what you want to know...
The pollster might be looking for insight as to how the issue rates in terms of politicial priorities among voters; a low percentage would mean that this is an issue that can be ignored with relatively safety. It could also provide data on how strongly people hold their opinions on the subject. That is, does being on the "wrong side" of this issue create a deal-breaker with some people.

Granted, the poll in itself is unscientific, but it's not an illegitimate question.

4. I'm rather mixed.
I think most calls for gun control, especially after unrelated incidencts like this, are mostly ill thought out bullshit, the same sort of sacrificing liberty for the sake of security we saw after 9-11.

That said, I don't believe the 2nd amendment rules out all forms of regulation, like mandatory gun safety training, registration, etc. And I would think that responsible gun owners who care about their hobby wouldn't be opposed to it either. I don't think it'd prevent massacres like this, but it might decrease the numbers of irresponsible gun owners leaving their guns where kids can get them, and so on.

That said, I really don't care much about it. And never talk about it unless asked.

11. Most gun worshipers talk a lot about "gun rights"
As if guns have more rights than human beings.

They never talk about gun responsibilities: Keep your weapon secure. Keep it well-maintained. Always assume every weapon is loaded & ready to fire until you have personally verified that it isn't. Be sure you have a target before you unholster your weapon. And finally: don't aim at what you don't want to kill.

Part of the problem is the dumbfucks who like guns primarily because they go "BOOM!" when you pull the trigger (like 90% of NRA members).

13. I want to see the second amendment scrubbed and redone
What did the founding fathers want us to have guns for? To defend the country, its right there in their amendment. That was the condition of the country at the time. And the nra says people kill people. That was the intent of the founding fathers. American citizens (people) killing the enemy (people.) The nra wants to deal with the amendments "ambiguity." I do not find it ambiguous, its quite plain to me. Its like christians delving into the old testament to justify their hate but ignoring other parts of the old testament because it might be inconvenient. The nra enables what happened yesterday but like good conservatives they choose not to take responsibilty.

I'm for private gun ownership but with a ton of responsibility heaped upon such ownership.
