Why does the media keep saying that this was the worst...
massacre in American history, we most people know it isn't. My sympathies to all involved.

12. And the worst shooting
I'm guessing there were worse shootings during the civil war.

5. Ratings.
The worse they make it out to be, the more ratings they get.

6. Yep
I'm not even turning on the teevee today.

I wonder how them pesky Iraqis think about losing more people than this every day.

Every day.

8. I heard that many times last night.
"worst school massacre in history"... um, try "worst school shooting in history".

But then again, the media isn't well known for its accuracy.

10. It's called "talking points" and it's designed to protect Gonzo
and to provide some distraction as cover for the rest of the mob.
"Everybody's talking" about this, in superlative terms, and fewer are casting a gimlet eye on the criminal cabal's corruption and cover up.

Rove, the magician, is giving a live demonstration of the process that amazes and confuses, leading even some adults to believe in miracles and magic.

I don't know if you caught the story, Sunday night I think, about the upper management of the NYT and other media, with a description of the way that the owners and management are cross communicating and hob-knobbing with their equivalent numbers in the government and how that gives them the impetus to approve only stories that communicate not what the government does, but what it says.

The only cure for this crap-the paralysis in reporting-is to remove the current bosses, attrition, firing or other, and promote underlings. Promote those people who don't have the chops, you think, to do the job and who can't be depended on.

They are the only ones who will go where their conscience and zeal drive them, rather than where it is safe for CEOs and governmental big shots.

11. It's some sort of maudlin "contest"..and our media
apparently does not know about Google.. They actively remember Columbine, and vaguely remember "some guy in a clock tower in Texas... a longgggggg time ago", so "their new massacre" is the biggest, baddest one evahhh..
