Time to allow guns in the White House
After all, it is inherently hypocritical for the Republican defenders of the second amendment to restrict the rights of those very fighters of freedom! In fact, anyone and everyone, as decent citizens of The Land Of The Free, ought to be allowed to conceal their weapons and walk into the White House. If those guards have the right to be armed, then so do I.

I don't think George W. Bush ought to be concerned for his safety. If I recall correctly, the first thing he said yesterday, through his spokeswoman, Ms. Dana Perino, was that he supports the people's right to keep and bear arms. I assume he was serious about that. God forbid that he would do or say anything for strictly political purposes. I fully expect to attend the next Republican Convention locked and loaded. If he's concerned for his safety, then perhaps he and Karl Rove ought to be packing heat on a daily basis.

How about every single member of Congress? There's nothing sexier than the thought of Nancy Pelosi with a Colt. For their own protection, every Congressperson and Senator ought to be armed - after all, they do have enemies. But they shouldn't worry, because by arming them, their safety will be guaranteed. There's no need for the cameras and the metal detectors. Throw all that useless and very expensive security away. Just give them all a gun. Problem solved.

I feel that the government of the United States ought to start setting a positive example. Guns in the White House and guns in the Capitol. Guns in the IRS and guns in the supreme court.

It's time to practice what you preach, Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney, Mr. Rove, Ms. Perino. Next press conference, allow the reporters to bring their guns. Next formal dinner, let the guests bring their guns. Next State Of The Union, let the audience bring their guns. As staunch defenders of the Constitution, I would expect nothing less from all of you.

"...The right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

God Bless America.
