ORLANDO, Fla. -- Political consultant Doug Guetzloe was arrested Wednesday after a grand jury indicted him on two counts of perjury in the wake of an ongoing series of investigative reports involving several files recovered by Local 6 from Guetzloe's unpaid storage unit.
State Attorney Larson Lamar announced Guetzloe's indictment during a news conference with Local 6's Tony Pipitone.
"He is charged by the Orange County Grand Jury with two counts of felony perjury," Lamar said.
"The felony perjuries are based on statements that he made before the Florida Election Commission stating that the money used for specific election activities were his personal money when, in fact, evidence exists that the money was paid by Bob Lewis, to him, for those specific activities. Each of which was a lie that he knew about in those allegations."Pipitone asked how important the information left in the storage unit that led to several Local 6 reports was to the grand jury's case.
"This particular case was pointed directly out by the storage locker materials that you have brought to the fore," Lamar said. "Without, we would not have had this particular pair of counts. That is what made the case.
These are important cases and they go to the integrity of the election process in Central Florida."<snip>
