In a hole? Stop digging!

Republican presidential candidate Tommy Thompson told a Jewish group yesterday that earning money is "part of the Jewish tradition," a remark for which he later apologized.

"I'm in the private sector, and for the first time in my life I'm earning money," he told the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism. "You know that's sort of part of the Jewish tradition, and I do not find anything wrong with that."

THIS IS THE FUNNY PART:

Later, he added, "I just want to clarify something because I didn't (by) any means want to infer or imply anything about Jews and finances and things. What I was referring to, ladies and gentlemen, is the accomplishments of the Jewish religion. You've been outstanding business people and I compliment you for that."

1. This is how much Shrubby has lowered the bar for presidential candidates
:eyesroll: We need to start a pool on which pub drops out of the race first. I'm betting it's Tommy.

2. Ah, the beauty of bigotry
All too often when given the opportunity to "clarify" remarks deemed offensive, the bigot unwittingly provides his/her own corroborative culpatory evidence. Perhaps Tommy and Joe Biden can become morning DJs or something.

Politicians' words.

4. Uh, Tommy Twoface, we all like to earn money.
Why support the offshoring of jobs to people who aren't jews?

:hide:

When it comes to politicians, don't listen to what they say OR the subsequent apologies.
