Can we get back to Gonzo-gate, please?
No offense, but I would like to go back to watching Torture Boy squeal like a stuck pig in front of Congress this Thursday.

There's only so much VA Tech shooting stuff I can take.

6. Well, that's your opinion. I wouldn't put anything past *.
I still haven't heard from my friend and former boss, Fred. I don't think that he worked in Norris Hall, but I am still terribly worried about him.

12. I don't think VA Tech was a conspiracy. Just one crazy psycho.

That said, Rove's going to exploit this to the hilt. He's furiously making phone calls as we speak to the media, directing them to cover this, cover that, make sure the MSM's saturated with VA Tech 24/7 for the next month. Normally I'd be watching news right now, but I have the damn TV turned off.

Every minute the MSM covers VA Tech is a minute they're not covering Gonzo-gate. Every day the hearings get delay is another day they have to scrub computers, throw memos through the shredder and work on their cover stories.

Though part of me remembers the story of Sirhan Sirhan and the Robert F. Kennedy assassination...

5. Not that I'd put it past him but, I don't think it was anything more than coincidence
Of course, how bad of a President is * if our first thought is so cynical as to think he was behind the VT killings?

8. THAT was my point.
Even if * was not behind it, how sick is it that there are American citizens who, among the first things that they think when faced with such a tragedy, is "gee, I wonder who orchestrated this one, and why?"

14. This administration has no problem with the death and dismemberment
of many, many people each week in Iraq, not to mention spending 2 billion dollars a week for it.

Why would they care about a handful of students?

It could easily have been a manufactured distraction. I'm not saying by whom, just like I'm not saying who manufactured the 911 travesty.

Go right ahead. But don't assume that the people that are affected by the VT tragedy are going to take your commands to stop mourning and discuss Gonzo.

7. Well one thing about all this
He wasn't a gun happy American. He was from another country. So the foreign press can't rant about that.

10. Gonzo is on hold 'til Thursday, I think
And honestly, do you think the VA Tech stuff will quiet down quicker than Imus or Anna Nicole? This will go on for weeks.

13. your attitude
is why we as a society continue to tolerate such atrocities as "Va Tech shooting stuff." Given the gun laws in VA this kind of thing is an inevitability. And yet people are shocked. Maybe because we live in delusions of safety.

It's different when you know people at the schools. UVA especially, and the other VA campuses are just as traumatized as Tech. I can tell you--this is huge in VA. Everyone knows someone who goes to Tech or has gone to Tech. Of course the national media has blown it up in a brutal assault of their own creation on viewers, but this could have happened anywhere in America, so it is relevant.

The problem is--we tolerate it. "OK, it didn't concern me, so now let's get back to business." That is where the problem lies.
