1. But New Orleans is SO FAR!
Virginia Tech is just a short helicopter ride from the White House. I mean, really, do you just expect our President to go all that way across the country because of a little bit of water?? :sarcasm:

2. He's learning how to be political
Another 10-12 years, he'd make a pretty good politician (he'd still be a shitty president).

think it's because he gives a flying shit one way or the other about any of the people in NO or VA -- but he has to show he's compassionate since he blew it last time...

12. To me,
everyone cared about NOLA except Bush & his people in power. I live in SE Texas (where Rita hit shortly after Katrina) and I know we had people from here lining up with their boats & supplies trying to get in to help out in NO but were turned away & not allowed in. Everyone around here was hysterical, frantically trying to help, & couldn't believe what was being allowed to happen to them. I think the majority of the country, and world for that matter, was outraged, black/white, rich/poor.... just not Bush's people.

9. NOLA was work - VT is a Photo-op
Edited on Tue Apr-17-07 08:51 AM by liberal N proud
There was work that needed to be done in NOLA and decisions to be made. We all know bu$h is lousy at work and decisions. Besides, letting NOLA slip into the abyss was an opportunity to some urban renewal, washing out the poor and redeveloping as a playground for the wealthy.

VT is simply a photo-op for the grinning imbecile.

Even if he wasn't trying for another photo op, you'd think SOMEBODY on his staff might have a clue that the security measures he travels with are just gonna shut things down and fuck up everything logistics wise.
Plus the fact that anybody who dislikes or disagrees with Bush won't be allowed at the service...that seems to be the SOP.

11. He went to New Orleans many times for photo ops...
just after it happened. He even flew over New Orleans and looked out the window. For *, New Orleans is old news now. No new photo ops. But VT is the perfect place to go and support the 2nd amendment.

it took him days to care about New Orleans.

is the univ. run by neo cons? does the neo cons make money off the univ. what is the connection that made smirk jump on the phone?
