How to avoid using Diebold machines when voting in NJ
NJ takes plunge into vote by mail balloting

MOUNT LAUREL — New Jersey voters have a new way to cast their ballots this year.

The state has replaced its absentee ballots with a "vote by mail" program.

That means voters do not need to give a reason why they're not voting in person. Instead of requesting ballots one election at a time, they can ask to be sent ballots for all future elections.

Public Advocate Ron Chen says this removes the barriers to vote for those with jobs, health conditions or transportation issues that makes it tricky to get to the polls.

State election officials say there are safeguards to prevent fraud in the new system.

No matter how they vote, Tuesday is last day for new voters to register and be eligible to participate in the Nov. 3 election.

1. Fact check your headline.
1. New Jersey mostly uses Sequoia machines(not Premier/Diebold)
2. Generally, if you vote absentee/by mail the ballots will be counted by machines that are made by the same vendor as the precinct based ones - so if you happen to be in a county/precinct that uses Premier/Diebold machines (and I don't know if there are any in NJ), voting by mail probably won't keep your ballot from being counted by a Premier/Diebold machine.

The option to vote by mail without having to give an excuse is nice, but if what you are trying to avoid machine counting (or counting by a particular kind of machine) voting by mail isn't going to make any difference.
