Franklin Graham gives up 1 of his nonprofit salaries(He's linked to Iraq, Katrina aid, Palin & more)

'Calling was never based on compensation,' says evangelist, who draws salaries from 2 ministries.

Evangelist Franklin Graham told his staff on Friday he wants to give up his pay as head of the Charlotte-based Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, saying his calling to the ministry "was never based on compensation."

In 2008, his two salaries, two retirement packages and other payments from the ministries totaled $1.2 million. That included $669,000 from BGEA, where, in February, 55 employees were laid off - more than 10 percent of the staff. Revenue at BGEA dropped 18 percent last year; at Samaritan's Purse, it climbed 11 percent.

Graham, 57, will continue to draw his salary and benefits from Samaritan's Purse, which totaled $535,000 in 2008.

<snip>

As head of Samaritan's Purse, Graham earned more last year than any other leader of an international relief agency based in the United States. That includes eight with larger budgets, according to data compiled by Guidestar, a group that monitors nonprofits.

Jesus said: "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the Law, justice and mercy and faith; these you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!" (Matthew 23:23-24)

Frankin Graham is also proseletyzing in Iraq:

Samaritan’s Purse’s actions have been especially odious. Among other things, the group literally described the attempted genocide of Iraq’s Kurdish population as a “missionary opportunity”.

Even Franklin Graham used some of these methods. According to Graham’s biography, “Rebel With a Cause,” during the last Gulf War, Samaritan’s Purse went to Jordan under the banner “Operation Desert Save” with food and aid–and showed the Jesus Film at night until the International Red Cross complained.

Samaritan’s Purse also has a well-documented history of forcing people to be proselytized to as a condition of disaster aid and especially targeting children to do so–including gift boxes given to children with religious toys.

Franklin Graham and Katrina:
And lest people think Samaritan’s Purse’s behavior in Iraq was an aberration–they’re reported to have targeted survivors of Hurricane Katrina in identical manner. In fact, Frank Graham explicitly saw Katrina as “God’s Judgment” on New Orleans (how many times do we have to tell these folks that Hurricane Katrina is not divine retribution, and if it were, then God must have the worst aim in the world as Bourbon Street was probably the least damaged area that Katrina hit?).

Franklin Graham is allied with Palin and the Domnionists:

We saw Frank recently shuttling Palin, Parnell and the self-righteous Baptist from Anchorage, Alaska (Jerry Prevo), around to a couple of villages in western Alaska. They stood around the plane and had prayer group hugs on camera, and claimed their acts as altruistic in the name of Jesus.

Samaritan’s Purse was among a number of dominionist groups (including the Assemblies front group FGBMFI) known to have funneled aid to the Contras under the guise of “aid” and conducted extensive “bait and switch” evangelism in Nicaragua)

Franklin Graham is trying to dominate the faith in the Military:

If it sounds like I am angry today it is because I am. A true American patriot, USAF graduate, former White House counsel in the Reagan Administration and my friend Mikey Weinstein and his family have been horribly harassed, threatened and terrorized because of his work to prevent these parasites from dominating faith in the military through his Military Religious Freedom Foundation. So I am compelled to speak out about these lovely dominionist ‘c’hristians and share the tangled web they weave together, including their act of military proselytizing.

Graham and his ilk are odious evil people. Google him and you will find even more connections.

They are quietly extending their tentacles wherever they can. "Samaritan's Purse" should be called "Hypocrite's Haversack."

4. They are "Con Men for Jesus."

They have so perverted any messages from the Bible that they might as well rewrite it. The edition they are coming up with should match their wicked ways.

They wouldn't recognize Jesus if he bit them on the butt.

That alone is enough to tell you something is wrong.

6. Hey. Get off the guy's back. So what if he collects a multi-million dollar
salary or two from a couple of foundations? I'm sure Jesus hauled in multi-million dollar salaries as well for his ministry.

O wait... Perhaps I spoke too soon...

A brief read of the New Testament suggests that Jesus may not have collected multi-million dollar salaries for his work.

My mistake.

12. LOL. Exactly. A camel is a pretty big thing. The eye of that needle sounds
pretty tiny.

Gonna be a tricky process any way they stack it over at the Graham compound!

9. Franklin was smart enough as a teen and young adult to pursue life's
worldly offerings and opportunities but he was also smart enough a bit later to RETURN TO THE LOVING ARMS OF JEEEEEEESUS because in his family, that's where the cash cow grazes.

And a well-fed cow it is.

17. My guess is that it probably isn't.
Dude from Galilee didn't have much to start with, packed light, and traveled on the wings of ideas and insights.

Naturally that was threatening to the Empire's local flunkies and they nailed him to a board.

Fundamentalist Christianity in our age is a gross distortion of the ministry of Jesus.
