It is NOT FAIR to balance the budget on the backs of the most vulnerable in our society. We have folks eyeing them like they do tourists. Or prisoners. Who can justify bilking those needing meds to survive? Or bear up to standard medicines poisins? Many are on their way out the door. This is nothing more than a death tax for them. For those that are needing it for chronic illness, it is a steep tax on those, none of which have insurance reimbursement for any portion.
If there must be a tax, then it had better be on legalized marijuana, from liscensed growers, with a gov. stamp guaranteeing a minimum quality standard. And that money MUST fund research into a test that can determine present level of THC intoxication. And this test MUST then be administered in lieu of present unfair employment tests. Those that choose to imbibe a legalized product, must NOT be discriminated against in employment. To fire such a person would be against their constitutional rights.
To reiterate, it is disgusting that many want to suck the marrow from the ill. Morally, you cannot justify a special tax on hte ill. That flurry of cases testing that will cost. Those wishing a buzz, alcohol free, sure, tax them, like alcohol. Not the pathetic person needing marijuana for their very health.
