Exxon-Mobil made 39.5 BILLION Dollars Last Year....aren't you proud?
The oil giant racked up $39.5 billion in earnings last year, the largest-ever profit in U.S. history. That figure topped the previous record of $36.1 billion, also set by Exxon Mobil, in 2005. Profits were up 9.3% from the previous year, while sales rose 2.2%.

3. I would do more than ask,.......
--- In a just world, an incoming democratic administration would send them a bill, actuarily split up among all the Big Oil charletans,.. Halliburton, Bechtel, KBR, etc. included,... and with 48 hours to pay.

4. I want my money back!!!
They make all that money while we can hardly afford to buy their product. Add that to the fact that groceries and other purchases have gotten so expensive, we are barely hanging on.....

5. To add insult to injury they cry poverty when the high price
of their product is mentioned. They whine about the cost of exploration and production, all the while setting aside mountains of cash for themselves and neglecting to build more refineries that might increase the flow and lower the price.

8. The Price of Regular Gas Has Topped $3.00/Gal In The Chicago.....
Metropolitan Area. Why aren't we seeing the public outcry as in the past when gas prices hit new highs? It seems that we have become so conditioned to high prices - we just go with the flow.

As long as we continue to take these continual price increases - they will keep them rising. They usually back down at a point where the pubic outcry gets to the pols in D.C. and they begin holding hearings with the oil execs.

Now I'm afraid that *Co is providing another kind of safety net for the oil companies - in that in all the scandals that *Co is part and parcel of - the Dems don't have enough time left to bring in the oil companies and take them to task.

9. Their profit margin is 10%
Here's a look at the profit margins for various sectors: http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s_qpmu.html

XOM has a lot of other problems, such as denying GW and Peak Oil, deliberately attempting to obscure the onrushing global energy crisis and not reinvesting their profits in alternative energy technologies, but simply making a lot of money isn't one of them.

XOM's profit margin is not out of line. Their net profit is a really big number because they're a really big company. Considering their absolute profit without taking into account the margin that produced it is a sure sign of abject innumeracy - a personal failing that seems highly prized in America today.
