Three within 100 miles of my town. Let's all light candles.

1. We need to light candles and honor them for their service
It's not as if they were only students. They fought and died for our country.

6. I'd like to think "They fought and died for our country." But I don't. Not really.

3. I thought our Virginia friends might join us.
To pay tribute to our military. Guess not.

5. And to think that liberals are often accused of being overly sensitive...
No one will ever accuse you of being a bleeding-heart, my friend.

8. That's what family in the military does for you.

Haven't seen one poster offer to burn a candle for our troops or the Iraqis. I guess they just do it for students?

10. I'm going to bed, so candles are out. That doesn't mean I don't think of
our troops, or fight for them daily.
Peace to them and you, Erika!

13. Do you only have a finite amount of compassion?
Can you only light candles for one set of victims at a time?

You apparently think it's a waste of time to mourn the students at Virginia Tech because soldiers and civilians are dying in Iraq. You don't need to minimize one tragedy to highlight another.

7. The Surge is stupid. Al Sadr quit the parliament
Our troops are used as civil war cannon fodder. Anyone want to light candles for them? Or burn Bush at the stake?

9. works both ways, fortunately
any candle lit in remembrance of the martyrs of this travesty is also a symbolic lighting of the pyre (in effigy) of the person who started it.

12. Wow....66 in just two weeks....and its only going to continue to get worse...and for what?

Bush's surge is only a surge in deaths....a surge in costs....a surge in a failed mission...

I cry for all the familys of these brave young soldiers, both alive and the deceased, that have put their lives on the line for their country, only to have been betrayed by Chickenhawks and a Commander in Thief who could care less about them when he sends them in and even for those who return alive, wounded or not.
