Politicize it, you monkey. Way to "unite" us after a tragedy.

====

As far as policy, the President believes that there is a right for people to bear arms, but that all laws must be followed. And certainly bringing a gun into a school dormitory and shooting -- I don't want to say numbers because I know that they're still trying to figure out many people were wounded and possibly killed, but obviously that would be against the law and something that someone should be held accountable for.

1. They didn't wait long after 911, so why wait now?
They'll politicize anything to keep some of THEIR doings out of the news! You betcha!

2. Sure, gotta love how access to mental health care is sporadic at best,
but pretty much anyone can acquire his own personal arsenal. There's your well-regualted militia!:puke:

4. To be fair
Im gonna disagree. If the a question hadnt been asked, and Perino had simply started saying that, then that is politicizing, but since it does really relate to the answering of a question, I dont have a problem with the response.

I know this response will be unpopular.

5. "We can't comment on an ongoing investigation!"
How many times have you heard THAT at their pressers?

"There will be time to discuss gum policy in the days ahead, for today the President sends sympathies to the victims families and we stand ready to assist in any way we can" . . . that may have been novel.

8. you're right
I had gotten the impression she led off with that. it's buried pretty far down, and is a response to a gun control question.

That said, she's a dingbat. the wordiing is SO lame:

"As far as policy, the President believes that there is a right for people to bear arms, but that all laws must be followed. "obviously that would be against the law and something that someone should be held accountable for"

well, there's an understatement for you!

9. I kind of agree with you, although she would have been wiser not to say it.
She should have dodged the question, but I don't find it particularly upsetting that she answered it. Bad tactical move.

My problems with Bush are much deeper than how his press secretary answers or evades questions.

6. No matter how you feel about gun control, just remember...
...although he was an enthusiastic supporter of gun control legislation, Bill Clinton didn't say a WORD about it on the day of the Columbine massacre. If he had, the GOP would have crucified him, and they might have been right to do so.

This isn't the time for politics.

11. I have more of a problem with his shitty speech
He could have used that as a platform to give a heartfelt speech and attempt to unite us for at least a day. Instead, he went out said a few words, than ran away from the podium.

12. How long before they start blaming this on liberals?
Or feminists, or gays, or abortion? You know they're going to make political hay out of this.

Just as long as they don't have to address the really hard questions we should be asking ourselves!
