Why isn't the head a part of the body????
Health insurance plans as it stands now, does not cover hearing, mental health, eyes or dental. Why is that? Granted some cover eyes and dental, but they are separate from the rest of the body. This isn't right at all. Health insurance should cover the body from the top of the head to the soles of the feet whether it's medicaid, medicare, public option or rip off insurance companies. Something has got to be changed after we get a public option or single payer.

4. The head is part of the body.
Its certain brain functions, like thinking rationally, which are excluded.

5. It doesn't make sense, for sure.
If you don't/can't see or hear well, you suffer/are 'behind the curve'.

Truth be known, good dental hygiene is the BASIS ~ it IS the beginning ~ for a sound digestive system. It's extremely important and goes far beyond just "having a nice smile".

8. The head is high-maintenance
It has too many intricate and delicate parts that are expensive to maintain or fix, so we pay a la carte to take care of them. (in fairness, haven't there been a few other policies floating around over the years that could be discount-customized to deliberately exclude coverage for pregnancy/childbirth/neonatal care?)

You're absolutely right, of course. It should all be covered, unless we are talking cosmetic or other elective services.

9. They cover eyes, ie. eye diseases, but not exams for glasses
or the glasses themselves. They also cover diseases of the ear and disorders of the brain, eg. stroke, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, etc.

12. Or vision plans that don't cover lasik
Most vision plans cover one or even two pairs of glasses every year plus the exam. But they don't pay for lasik. Pay 800 bucks every year for exam and glasses, but won't pay $3000 one time so you don't need glasses anymore. :WTF:

11. I always wondered how the person is the body, not the head.
"They cut off his head."

No, no they didn't; they cut off his body. He still has a head, the body is what's missing.
