Where the guns come from.....
Edited on Mon Apr-16-07 11:46 PM by catnhatnh
...in one of my previous incarnations I drove a scrap metal truck throughout Connecticut. Two of my stops were Winchester and Mossberg and I also had calls at various points to enter Remington Arms and Charter Arms....And the fact is these are 4 factories in a small state that produce firearms and ammunition on several shifts EVERY WORKDAY and ALL YEAR...Mossberg alone was shipping several tractor trailer loads of such items as pistol grip 12Ga shotguns EVERY DAY-Think about it 4 factories x 3-4 trailer loads x 5 days a week x 52 weeks a year...that's a heap o' death being sold and no one even imagines that volume of weapons are being taken out of service and destroyed at that rate...the most popular Winchester is the classic western model 1894 and of those built in the inaugural year many are STILL fully functional-at 100 years old...meaning stuff leaving the factory today could easily be misused well into the 22nd century...trailerloads a day-consider that.
