Fred Phelps, et al. at it again

(I searched the main forums for anything on this but didn't come up with any results, so I'm hoping this won't be a duplicate.)

I just heard from one of my friends that members of Westboro Baptist Church are planning to preach at the funerals of those killed today at Virginia Tech. :grr: She sent me a link to http://www.godhatesamerica.com/ which seems to support this...poking around the site a bit I couldn't tell if it was meant to be satire (part of me wants to think it is, because it's just so batshit insane, but part of me thinks that's just too sick), but it seems like something those sanctimonious assholes might do. :puke: Just thought I'd throw that out there (and if I'm wrong, which I hope I am, feel free to laugh at me). I consider myself to be a decent, nonviolent, liberal sort of person, but I am from that area and I can tell you there are some things that bring out my angry "redneck" side. Disrespecting those who died in a horrible manner (hell, in ANY manner) is one of them. I remember thinking in February when I went to the funeral of one of my friends, a Marine who was killed in action in Iraq, that if any of those assholes even came near Danny's family they'd have hell to pay - from me, personally. 15. A couple of guys here in central NM

showed us all what to do. Phelps was protesting the gay friendly policies of the university here. Two guys, who later said they barely knew each other, went into a deep and prolonged soul kiss right in front of him.

He couldn't leave fast enough.

Maybe he was afraid they'd photograph the effect on his clothing of the massive erection he was sporting.

It required no restrictions on free speech, it was nonviolent, and it WORKED.

It was very comforting to have them at my friend's funeral back in February, and they were my first thought when I heard about this Phelps crap...I don't know if they do missions for non-military, although I suppose it can't hurt to ask. :shrug:

But I bet they would be up to raining on the Phelps parade anytime it is needed. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it is standard for the families to request their presence at the funerals.

It is bullshit that at the time of such a tragedy, the families have to think about how to deal with scum like the Westboro pukebags. they have enough to worry about without dealing with these freaks :grr:

I heard that after Columbine, Phelps came to Littleton to denounce the killers as evil homos (based only on the evidence that their classmates used to call them fags), as if killing people were just a secondary annoyance.
