TODAY, WE ARE ALL HOKIES
We will not back down.

We have been injured, but we will come back even stronger.

We have been hurt, but our community is still standing.

We will get through this. We will be brave. And will continue to serve.

Today, we are all Hokies. Ut Prosim.

1. Too bad this recognition wasn't given by the GOP to Iraqi U.S. troops
The majority of them are just kids being killed senselessly.

2. Can we take a day off from politics?
Just posting a little something from my favorite Virginia blogs, can you feel my pain, their pain, Virginia's pain?

6. "...a day off from politics?"
When I want to do that, I stay off DU and walk - and maybe have a sandwich in the park.

I would regard myself as a bit silly to post on DU and expect "a day off from politics." Maybe that's just me.

7. I thought you might appreciate this quote from the
Sydney (Australia) Morning Herald http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/horror-and-confusion-witnesses/2007/04/17/1176696794007.html?page=2

snip

"As the magnitude of the carnage became evident, the campus community, relatives and friends started to pull together. Student Matt Waldron got a phone call from a friend in another fire zone - Iraq.

"He's a soldier over there, just making sure that everybody is okay," Waldron told CNN. "I'm sure today everybody got a lot of calls from their family and friends, concerning the situation. It's a tragedy."

10. ...
In these times, we all need friends :grouphug::hug: It's not just this tragedy, it's ALL of them - health care, Iraq, etc., but this brings it all home with a sledgehammer.

11. my son is a Hokie...
he was a scholarship athlete at VT..and i send my love and prayers to all Hokies and their families today..

I was just remembering going to orientation with my son and they got us all up to do the hokie pokie..and we all giggled..and laughed...

I hope one day the laughter returns to Virginia Tech...as today is the saddest day for all THE YOUTH AND FACULTY, who are on campus, all who have lost their loved ones, and all the allumni and families of Hokies everywhere..tears are shed for all who lost their lives today so cruely..

Such a loss of our youth..for no damn reason.

WHO COULD HATE SO MUCH TO EXTINGUISH THESE KIDS LIVES??

MAY WE LEARN AS A NATION TO STOP HATE..TO STOP KILLING..WHEN WE HATE ..IT COMES BACK TO US..when we kill so needlessly..it comes back to us..why do we learn so little from history?????????

My prayers go to all at VT and Blacksburg..and the families of the victims.
