... but you still ran miles for exercise and in races and now you talk about sticking it
out in Afghanistan because we can't suffer a defeat. Hey Pat sooner or later we will
have to go home and then the Taliban will take over again thanx to W's screw ups
in 2002 & 2003.

Chicken Hawk Bastard.

1. And why can't we "suffer a defeat???" I mean what "suffer" is he talking
Edited on Thu Oct-08-09 05:51 PM by monmouth
about. Those poor dead and maimed soldiers are the ones suffering. What's he worried about, that old meme from the 40s that went "we never lost a war." That was post- WW2 and Korea. He's still living in black and white TV with Ed Sullivan on Sunday nights....

9. And Walter Conkite!!
If the war was run like a corporation, those poor dead and maimed soldiers (not to mention the $$) are referred to as a "sunk cost". And any economics major will tell you there is not a good policy using sunk cost to influence future decisions.

2. Hey Botany
A knee did not keep buchanan out of Vietnam. Conservative values did.

CONSERVATIVE VALUES KEPT BUCHANAN AND LIMBAUGH AND BUSH AND CHENEY AND DELAY AND THE REST OF THE CONSERVATIVE COWARDS OUT OF VIETNAM.

How many right wing cowards are not serving in Afghanistan today because of conservative values? How many of them will be the delay's and rove's of the future?

whiny voice of his that drones on and on.

11. So did mine ... I was 18 when the draft ended. Ended up joining after the withdrawl
So, I know something about the kids today being forced into the military to take there chances on living through a few years in order to get a foot hold on the job market.

In reality, what you find out, is that as soon as you can hide it, get the military off your resume and keep it off for 20 years. That employment reference doesn't work the way you think it might unless your guaranteed a civil service position. Probably 30% of employers will not hire vets just returning, and all corps view vets as a risk (going postal ya'know).

7. Well, Pat . . .
Jesus said to count well the cost, and used the example of a potentate planning to launch an invasion. Apparently, back in 2002 and 2003, we didn't have very wise men and women who were planning our invasions, and now we seem to be stuck with either suffering defeat (or more properly, acknowledging a defeat we've already suffered), or admitting our mistake and moving to correct it.

What would a wise person do in that situation, Pat? Cut their losses or continue to pour sand down a rathole?

they congratulated me on having had a very good doctor. On to Lackland!
Of course that was in August of '68. They weren't too picky in those days.

Edit to add date info.
