Why * Needs The Dems To Cave
Because when all is said and done, despite his cock of the walk, blowhard temper tantrum, if they don't, he has to veto the bill. It will be him who denies the troops the funding and he can spin himself into a grave but it won't change the fact that he is the one who is denying them the funding. I hope the dems hang tough, again and again, until he's brought to heel.

3. I'm not so sure his veto wont be overturned
I doubt the Republics in the Senate want to share the blame.

11. times change

as long as the dems "spin" the deadline as the rather mild thing it is, there could be an outcry against the veto that tilts some pugs - look how fast the establishment changed its initial response to the i-mess thing...

edit:

And I am still hoping for an outcry from the military - they are at the boiling point; the reaction could be sudden, and loud

2. strange analogy
its like a cowboy "breaking" a wild horse - just keep on riding while he bucks and jumps and twists, but eventually he gives up...

funny for Nancy P to be the "cowboy" and ol swaggerin cowboy bush to be the (we hope) broken-in saddle horse

8. Interesting Take
Hadn't thought of it that way. There is an interesting push and pull going on between he, Pelosi & Reid. He invites them to the WH to talk, they say no, there is talk behind the scenes, he invites them again, this time they say they will go. Good timing for Nancy and Harry as the polls say 58% of the country support them and only 32% support him.

As for Nancy, I look at her as the mom of the situation, and sooner or later moms get their way. Maybe she'll send him to his room for a time out.

4. How much longer do we NEED to be over there anyway?
Why should we NEED to continue to maintain a military occupation past 2008? Why aren't the Dems, media, public, etc. asking Bush just how much longer he thinks we need to keep most of our troops over there? We NEED some accountability from this (mis-)administration about SOMETHING! He has pretty much had a free hand to do whatever over much of the past 4 years. Is actually asking for/expecting some results and/or a clear strategy too much to ask for?!!!

5. My heart goes out for the troops
They're under his thumb. However, Blackwater will walk the second their invoice goes unpaid. That will kill any hope Bush might have in Iraq. He has to know this.

9. This Is His Only Tactic...
Remember, this goon only "governs" for the 40-50% of his base that still will pay to watch his kill and eat a baby on live TV and then buy the DVD. He doesn't give a shit what the remainder of the 75% of this country thinks...we don't exist.

Boooshie now needs confrontation with the Democrats in order to stay relevant. It's not the veto, but the fight...his only way to keep his diminishing horde on his side and try to play whatever games he wants to. The Democrats ar his strawmen...totally disconnected from the reality and this works just find for those who live in that same bubble that he does...and that's all that matters.

Remember, this fukstick can Executive order his war to his hearts content...and will...if there's a real danger his war toys will be taken away.

12. One of the reasons that we need the Dems to not cave.
Another is the need to end the stupid war as soon as possible.

13. That is exactly why the Democrats can not cave
They must force the little fuckers hand and put it all on him.

Let him explain to his shareholders in his war why the funding stopped.

He's spoiled and petulant, and doesn't know what to do when people say no to him. I love when Nancy says he isn't a king.
