It seems to me that I hear more than a hint of Republicans, and some Democrats too, trying to narrow health care reform to primarily associate itself with providing improved care for the poor or near poor while leaving all else alone. That is not what health care or health care insurance reform has to be about. It has to be about improvement of the entire system for everyone and patching some segment of the problem can't be used as a substitute for the scale of reform required.
So beware of that twist in the debate, don't be confused into thinking that improved care for those less fortunate is the entire or even major aim of the reform we need - it is not. Universal reform for all income groups with strenuous Government involvement on the national scale must be the outcome.
