Some facts that occurred to me during CSPAN this AM...re:healthcare...
The discussion began with health care being a moral/social issue, something I agree with, but then some called in and changed the "rules".

I want to put out some observations and facts that we should be using to combat the idiocy that the RW is spouting.

For one thing, this talk about "personal responsibility" is pure BS. For those who advocate "personal responsibility", pay for your health care out of pocket. Pay your own way, no insurance pool where others are actually ponying up for your care, pay it yourself...that truly is, personal responsibility. When you do that, talk to me about how everyone else should be responsible for their own health care.

"Socialized medicine" works, we call it Medicare, Medicaid, the VA and a few other things; people get care for the problems they have, and often get care before a minor problem becomes life threatening. Granted, fraud is a problem, but fraud is committed by the professionals giving the care, not by those receiving the care. Some doctors are simply crooks, just because they have MD behind their name does not make them anymore angelic than say a cop with a badge that sells dope to kids or plants evidence to get an arrest.

"Bureaucrats will make medical decisions"...give me a break. To protect profits, bean counters behind desks in insurance companies are making decisions that literally kill people every day by denying them treatment they need. Call it what you will, but these "insurance bureaucrats", are doing far more damage than any government employee who will stamp the paperwork "OK" and allow the treatment to proceed.

Everyone will be able to choose the physician/PA/RNC they want to see. Right now, insurance companies have rosters of "Preferred Providers" you can use, or you pay a premium or pay out of pocket. Your choices are limited under insurance plans...if you haven't figured this out yet, you never read the literature you were given when you signed up.

I heard an, "I don't want my money paying for someone else's care because of their lifestyle!"...well, as I stated above, others in the insurance pool that woman was in is paying for her care, she is paying a small portion of the cost...are people really that stupid they don't understand this concept? Here's an example that is so glaringly obvious it should be plastered all over the net. Rush Limbaugh, worth some $300 million, had his rehab paid for by others in his insurance pool. He didn't pay squat, other than a deductible and his premiums...how much did that care cost "others" for his being nothing more than a junkie? Where was the "outrage" of paying for Limbaugh's rehab? The guy has $300 million!...and he counts on others to pay the bills, for his "lifestyle".

One more thing...does the insurance industry really need to buy $1500 chairs for executives when that money could be spent on a child's medication? That $1500 chair would pay for the coffin that is needed to bury the child that was denied care...think of all the millions given to slugs behind desks that wear expensive suits and live in mansions...while parents weep for their kids.

Kind of puts a whole new perspective on the problem we face. Republicans, and a few Democrats are setting up a situation where people die, or live in misery...just to make sure that Robber Barons get more money in their coffers...denying health and hope to millions.

Thanks for reading my rant...feel free to add your own take on this...I'm off to the Post Office with a fist full of handwritten letters to those who would kill for profit.

1. You are wrong about one thing -
no health insurance exec would be caught dead in a $1500 chair - that's what his personal assistant might have. Hell, I'm just a government paid office drudge, and my chair cost $500.

Try $5000. Minimum.
