Conrad says he voted and will vote against a public option because the House supports a strong one
Conrad said today on the Bill Press show that he actually supports the Schumer amendment, but that he voted against it and would vote against it on the floor of the senate because he thinks that the House's position is too strong and will cause the Senate public option to be tied to medicare rates. He opposes that because his state gets the second lowest return on medicare rates in the country.

1. Conrad has said a lot of nonsense in this debate and this is another one.

He votes against the plan that does not tie the Public Option to Medicare because he opposes tying the Public option to Medicare? Really.

I understand he feels uncomfortable saying he is sold to insurances companies, but between this and saying France does not have a government run system, he is starting to look ridiculous.

Anyway, this is not the issue. The issue is whether he will vote for a filibuster or not if the bill has a public option?

5. he didn't say how he would vote on cloture
but I got the feeling that he wasn't totally committed to voting for cloture if there is a public option in the bill. I hope Reid follows through with the idea of stripping them of their chairmanships if they oppose cloture.

8. You don't have to vote for the bill
Edited on Thu Oct-08-09 08:58 AM by AllentownJake
but your going to vote to end debate or you are going to be the chairman of mule fucking and I will personally remove every earmark you propose in the next budget. Those are the words I'd like Harry to use.

3. I thought Bill Press did a good job in this interview.
He made Conrad sound silly.
