4. perfectly captures the how republicans see america-
-this is what the christian nut jobs call eduction, nothing more than a collection of symbols and easy lies. What is amazing is how they mention Lincoln, just some guy who was shot. Is that supposed to be a warning? In Texas, this is what our school board would be forcing teachers to teach.

The right wing is turning us into a nation of freaks.

16. The reality is many of the Founding Fathers...
...Also hated organized religion! The idea America was founded as a Christian Nation is joke! The Masons played a much larger role in crafting our Constitution than did the Christians. Not that I am a fan of the Masons but I would take them over organized religion any day!

Free speech and relying on reason and rational thought not Christianity is what many of our founding fathers used as guidance.

The actual US Constitution has far too many socialeftist buzzwords like "we the people", "rights", "government" etc.

Edited on Thu Oct-08-09 06:28 AM by geckosfeet
has a revisionist perspective of the religious views of the founding fathers (Thomas Jefferson lined up behind Jesus!? - give it a rest).

This is a fine example of the modern day rural primitive propaganda style. It exhibits the classic misunderstanding of history, fear of the world outside of their sphere of existence and understanding, and a narrow intolerant regionalist view of religions role in our country.

9. What an idiot ..... Thomas Jefferson in his Jesus loves America pix?
Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his god, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government
reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their "legislature" should "make no law respecting an
establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between church and State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in
behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in
opposition to his social duties. T. Jefferson

And about five or six other outspoken Freethinkers, Deists, Atheists, and Agnostics -- McNaughton isn't particular.

Or maybe he's really an atheist and this is his form of coded communication to his Satanic Masters. Or not.

--d!
(On edit: I forgot to properly spell McNaughton's misspellings.)

Edited on Thu Oct-08-09 06:45 AM by zazen
"Mr Hollywood. He represents your entertainment business in America. It is very apparent that there is a liberal slant with Hollywood. He looks down at the judge and pregnant woman with ridicule and amusement."

It's too early to do a full-blown rhetorical analysis. . . but I guess it's just their unfounded generalizations that emanate from their oral world of crazy theories, that they try to turn into "formal writing," as if that turns it into a statement of fact. Kind of like their idiotic Intelligent Design museum.

And talk about weird projections--people in Hollywood ridicule pregnant women? WTF?!

25. it's weird that they include Susan B. Anthony and give a "neutral" description
given that they represent every social force that attempts to restrain women from full participation in society.

Usually they try to co-opt the civil rights movement but not women's rights. Like, where's Martin Luther King? I can't believe they didn't co-opt his identity. Maybe they actually comprehend that his message was equally about class inequalities and therefore even more subversive than is commonly understood.

18. As a Canadian, this is really the kind of thing that reminds me...
that, in spite of all of our superficial similarities, in spite of all the American pop culture we consume, our countries are very different in some key ways. I just don't see that kind of painting being done here, even by our conservative christians. For example, a former leader of the Conservative Party once said that he believed dinosaurs and humans had coexisted and the earth was under 10,000 years old; he was universally ridiculed in the media and forced out of his leadership. In the US, mainstream media outlets can't go after the "bible is literal truth" crowd the same way.

I really find this painting fascinating!

22. what is worse, that 15-20 years ago, we would have done the same thing.
Flat earthers were laughed at. And then newt and his grinches took over, and conspired with the religious reich. From there, it was a sad step into a quasi-religious nation, with the separation of church and state being dismantled by design. Feith - based initiatives (sorry, dougie) STILL exist, if only because Obama has not bothered to put a stop to them. Hell, we just voted to re-fund abstinence policies, even though every single study shows that they fail, and worse, they make things worse.

It sure does not feel like we have a majority in congress, not with this crap occurring.
