Drag Queens Strike Back -- Knock Out Attackers
Posted Oct 7th 2009 10:00AM by TMZ Staff

Two drunken morons in the U.K picked a fight with the wrong cross-dressers -- 'cause two mini-skirt wearing, purse-carrying drag queens fought back ... and cold-cocked their attackers with some serious street justice!

Turns out the cross-dressers also happened to be cage fighters dressed up for a fun night out in Swansea, Wales when they were attacked by the two thugs ... bad move for the attackers.

The "girls" pulverized the bad guys (around 1:22 in the clip), cleaned themselves off, and went on with their night. When the attackers managed to regain consciousness, they were arrested by local police.

The footage, which was captured by local security cameras, was used against the attackers in court on Monday -- where they were found guilty of "using intimidating behavior" and sentenced to four months of "community order."

What a drag...

8. LOL! I love yhis line from Daniel one of the cage fighters...
"It is a sorry state of affairs when a guy can't safely walk down the street in a mini-skirt and make-up without getting grief from some idiot."

4. Ah yes, let's invade people's privacy and create a complete surveillance society,
All for your entertainment.

While I agree with the sentiment you express concerning the thugs getting the shit knocked out of them, I disagree with the idea of a surveillance society. I can't bring myself to praise it no matter what it brings.

9. They are not Drag Queens. They were only dressed in drag for a party.
Nothing in the article indicates that they dress in drag regularly.

If you dress up in drag on Halloween, that doesn't make you a drag queen.

13. I agree, but it's obvious that the attackers perceived them as such.
So the attackers' actions were still as motivated by hate as if those two had been GLBT people.

This is a prime example of why "gay rights" and "gay equality" are not just gay issues--they're issues for EVERYONE. Straight people can be victimized just as easily as gay people if some bigot perceives them as gay.

I bet those two idiots will think twice in the future.

14. I agree.
Whether they are perceived as drag queens, and whether they are, are two different issues. The perception is the more important issue because that is what triggered the violence.

Yes, this is why we keep trying to include equality for people perceived to be LGBT. Though not nearly enough straight people seem to realize this protects them too. :(

I hope those two cage fighters had a good night after that. :)

10. I don't know if it's true or not, but I heard that during the stonewall
riots a drag queen put a brick in her purse and was swinging that around and inflicting major damage.

15. I've heard that too. I've heard that was a pretty common
self defense tactic back then, so I'm sure more than one of them was doing it. :)

16. i went to school in Swansea
It can be a really rough town. This probably happened just as the bars were closing (11PM when i was there). Fights are everywhere in the streets at that time. Then again after the clubs closed (2AM). I spent a year there and loved it except for the intermittent brawls. Funny thing is, after people beat each other up, they'd sometimes help each other out, walk down the road together, laugh about it, etc.

But i got my degree in Buffalo, NY. A tougher town. Been mugged there twice, once at gunpoint, once at knifepoint. People don't help you up after they've beaten the shit out of you. They kick you in the ribs.
Good to see the queens get rowdy.

For a glimpse at Swansea's 'underworld', see the movie "Twintown"...

17. Isn't it strange
that when it comes to capturing a video of a street brawl those security cameras blanketing the UK work so well, but when it comes to capturing video of participants in the London 7/7 terrorist attack the the relevant security cameras just happen to be broken (or the ones that were working seem unable to produce relevant footage). Oh well, doubtless it's just another example of the coincidences that always attend these high profile events.
