McConnell: CBO Score Is Much Ado About Nothing
By Mike Lillis 10/7/09 6:38 PM

Even as Senate Finance Committee Democrats are patting themselves on the back over a damn fine cost estimate for their enormous health reform proposal, Republican leaders are quick to remind us that it’s a far different bill than the rest of the chamber will be voting on. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) just issued a statement to that effect: “This partisan Finance Committee proposal will never see the Senate floor,” he said, “since the real bill will be written by Democrat leaders in a closed-to-the-public conference room somewhere in the Capitol.”

The real bill will be another 1,000-page, trillion-dollar experiment that slashes a half-trillion dollars from seniors’ Medicare, raises taxes on American families by $400 billion, increases health care premiums, and vastly expands the role of the federal government in the personal health care decisions of every American.

Safe to say that McConnell will be offering his floor opinions in the form of a filibuster.
