I Just Lost A Conservative Clients BIZ....
Edited on Wed Oct-07-09 06:31 PM by rsmith6621

....I do fashion type photography to make an extra buck here and there.

This afternoon I met with a client who preaches on her Facebook page about how Jesus is her strength and how BAD government programs are and should be eliminated. She is not married but engaged.

We were discussing over a cup of Starbucks doing some progressive maternity images as well as some of the last shots before she blossoms in full bloom for her portfolio.

After about 30 minutes we had reached agreement on our project and she said she needed to get going to an appointment.....A WIC APPOINTMENT......I asked her isn't that a government program???...she said YES it is I said but don't you hate government programs and think it is a form of socialism according to some of your FB page post......She said well this is different.....I said HOW...she said thanks for the meeting I guess I will find someone else less judgmental...I said fine but Im not being judgmental and told her to call me if she has a change of heart..

I dont think I will hear back from her. The loss is about $400.00

5. Typical "actor observer bias"
People tend to judge other people's actions as dispositional, but their own as circumstantial, hence the ever present "that is different" argument we hear from the anti-government types. They tend to see other people as lazy or messed up, while they are just using the program to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. That is what we saw with Joe the idiot Plumber. He was perfectly fine using Welfare programs, but says that people are too dependent on the government for help. The former client was doing well enough to judge that other people's use of government as unnecessary and bad, but the one she was using was one of those "good" programs.

2. The older I get
the more I realize people either have no problem with hypocrisy or are just completely blind to any kind of self contradiction they may be making.

3. These people are always OK with it
when they benefit, they just don't want anyone else to benefit. :eyes:

4. Bob Altemeyer's "The Authoritarians" goes into this in some depth..
Wingnuts basically are "hypocrisy challenged".

Read all about it for free, even distribute PDF or printed copies legally.

Let me ask you, as we’re passing the time here, how many ordinary people do you think an evil authority would have to order to kill you before he found someone who would, unjustly, out of sheer obedience, just because the authority said to? What sort of person is most likely to follow such an order? What kind of official is most likely to give that order, if it suited his purposes? Look at what experiments tell us, as I did.

6. Altmeyer's work is discussed by John Dean and Prof. Lakoff
in studying the way 'they' function.
