Elearnor Holmes Norton: "I can always count on Colbert......
....to make a joke out of the fact that we don't have the right to vote in the district."

she just said that on Lehrer, during a segment on DC trying to get a voting seat in congress.

She was smiling, and it seemed like she got a kick out of saying it. I've seen her twice on his show, and the first one was as funny as anything I've seen...her deadpan was the best!

1. I think she should be a weekly guest on Colbert's show!
We roll in hysterical laughter every time she is on!

6. Are many diplomats good straight men?
There certainly have been many barbs thrown in those circles.

I think D.C.'s best chance for a voting seat is to make it a congressional district of Md. Leave the rest of the government alone. It might be an acceptable compromise because they are not treating DC like a State, yet, the people get the vote. Allow them to vote for Md senatorial candidates. I for one would welcome the DC voter pool to Md. DC remains a "District" and for federal offices, the people are voting in the state footprint from which the land was ceded.

Thoughts?
