I got a first hand taste of libertarian Obama hating crazy on my way home today
I was entering a highway and had my blinker on to move over to the left into the right hand lane. There was a car behind me and he was going really fast. He started honking at me and waving his arms. He came right up as close to the rear of my car as he could without touching my bumper. My first thought was wow, maybe the guy has some kind of emergency and is on his way to a hospital or something. So I moved over to the right as far as I could to let him go around me.

Then I saw another car behind that guy and the driver was honking and flipped the guy off. I still thought this guy had to have some kind of emergency and maybe the other driver didn't understand.

About that time the first guy came up on my left and he was waving his hands at me. I rolled down my window and motioned for him to go around me and he didn't. At this point we were side by side in a highway entrance lane that was only designed for one car, not two side by side. So I moved over more to the right and I even slowed down a bit so he could get in front of me.

He didn't go around me. He held up his middle finger and yelled out his window "FUCK OBAMA AND YOU TOO".

About that time we entered the highway. I was in the right lane and this guy pulled over right next to me in the left lane. He kept looking over at me and honking and yelling. I couldn't tell what he was yelling because I had rolled up my window by then. I pulled over and called 911.

As this guy passed me I watched to get his tag number and I noticed two bumper stickers on his car. One said RON PAUL WAS RIGHT and the other one was something about Obama. I couldn't read it all. Then I realized my OBAMA bumper sticker must have set him off.

The cops told me to pull off of the highway at the next exit and I did. They also said they had received another call and the description I gave of the car was the same. The dispatcher said "This guy's on a roll today!" A few minutes later, as I hung up the phone, I heard sirens and assumed (hoped) the cops went after him.

Pretty creepy, eh?

1. These angry people are everywhere. All over the place.
I don't want to talk to them. At all.

5. Me neither
I have my Twitter account locked so I have to approve my followers. If it's a wingnut, I block them. I see no reason to have any conversations with them. They are insanely angry and downright scary.

4. I don't know that what I did was good; it just seemed like the right thing to do was to call 911
Angry wingnuts - very creepy indeed.

3. I hope the cops caught him.
Can a person get arrested for trying to facilitate an accident like he did?

such self-defeating loonies

6. Well two drivers reported him
and the dispatcher did say they would send an officer to stop him. So I guess he can at least get pulled over. Arrested? I'm not sure.

That's what I found odd. Lots of support for Obama there, especially in the area where I was driving.

Edited on Tue Oct-06-09 05:55 PM by lunatica
He could be drunk. Definitely has road rage and he's a danger to other drivers.

10. Aggressive driving, statutes in all states
We have a special number to call in NJ JUST for agressive drivers, #77.

N.J. police issue 858 tickets in five hours in aggressive-driving crackdown

Police in New Jersey issued 858 tickets within five hours in an aggressive-driving enforcement crackdown spanning five counties, a report in the Record said.

About 80 officers from departments in Passaic, Bergen, Morris, Essex and Sussex counties participated in the crackdown that also resulted in at least 10 arrests, according to the report. The 858 summonses, including tickets for not wearing a seat belt, speeding and texting, occurred between 9 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday, the report said.

16. This incident today was in MO
I live in KS and a year or so ago I was on my way home one night and a big truck tailed me and kept creeping up on my bumper. Followed me like that for several blocks. So I called 911 and the dispatcher asked me right away if I felt threatened. I said yes. She said an officer is already on the way. Hubby told me he had heard KS had passed a road rage law that required the cops to go after drivers when a threat was reported.

Don't know if MO has the same law.

11. What a good driver!
You handled it very well. Many people would have taken his behavior as a challenge and things could have gotten much worse.
Good going - but I get your knees were shaking a bit. I know mine would be.

15. I would absolutely be
shaking and would hope to have the presence of mind to get the license # pull over and call 9/11.

I don't drive anymore but it's a good lesson for any crisis where there's an idiot involved.

18. I am not surprised this happened in my old stomping ground.
I was raised in Missouri and now live in Texas. To be honest, the most racist encounters I've had were in Missouri, mostly in Springfield where I lived the last few years of my "young" life before I escaped. I am struggling with where to retire but I really don't think I can take another round of Johnson County. Proud2blib......you know what I'm talkin' about too.

20. Better keep an eye in the mirror,
Stay under the limit and don't venture off well-traveled roads. The boys down at the station will be looking for an excuse to work you over for "eluding" or "interfering". Cops don't like our kind.

25. That is why I will not put political bumper stickers on my car.
I frequently wear liberal t-shirts out in this very red area. No RWer has ever had the guts to walk up to me, look me in the eye and say something about the t-shirt I'm wearing. But some people do very stupid things when they get behind the wheel of a car.

Glad you are OK.

tried to force us off the road. when he passed he yelled out " I should shoot you in you fu--- head'! I got the tag number and reported it to police, in fact we drove right to police station. They took our complaint, we asked they not give our name to him. They did pay him a call and gave him a warning. Still have our Obama sign on our car and it will stay.
