Toronto city services line gets calls on cheesecake, chicken wings and ghosts

Canadian Press THE CANADIAN PRESS

TORONTO - Are chicken wings considered a city service?

One person apparently thought so, in one of a few unusual calls the city of Toronto received on its new city services line.

The 311 phone line was launched more than one week ago and has fielded nearly 19,000 calls.

More than half were about solid waste management, and many others were about water or transportation services.

But someone called asking what oven temperature was best for cooking chicken wings and a child called looking for a recipe for strawberry cheesecake.

Someone else wanted to know if there are any health risks to living in a house made of cinder block and yet another person wanted to know if the landmark Fort York is haunted.

9. Kensington Market rocks. Somehow, it's survived the influx of Second Cup and Starbucks. nt
