John Boehner Meet Your Consitiuents Who Support The Public Option

Last Thursday Republican John Boehner told reporters that he's never met "anyone" who supports the public health insurance option--despite polls showing that it's supported by at least two-thirds of the American public.

"This is about as unpopular as a garlic milkshake," Boehner said, noting that he had never consumed such a milkshake.

With polls showing that 57% of Ohioans support the public option, perhaps Boehner is suggesting we make the garlic milkshake the new state beverage.

"I'm still trying to find the first American to talk to who's in favor of the public option, other than a member of Congress or the administration," Boehner said in a Thursday press conference. "I've not talked to one, and I get to a lot of places and I've not had anyone come up to me -- I know I'm inviting it -- and lobby for the public option."

Not only is Boehner out of touch with the reality that two-thirds of Americans support the public option, but he also hasn't been listening to voters in his own district. Health Care for America Now partners in Ohio have held many live events and call-in days during which eighth district voters have called Boehner's office to tell him they support health care reform that includes a strong public option.

I've seen Boner slur his words on tv on several occasions and sound completely drunk. I guess that's his excuse? Saying he's never met "anyone" who supports the public option is just insane and is inviting ridicule. It's something so crazy, he surely didn't think it over before he said it. He might as well have been wearing a lampshade on his head when he said it.
