Elders Warn of Offensive if Drone Attacks Continue

MIRANSHAH: Tribal chiefs and elders in North Waziristan Agency on Sunday warned the United States of a possible alliance with Afghan tribal chiefs to fight US-led forces in Afghanistan if Washington did not stop drone attacks in the Tribal Areas.

The elders made the decision at a grand jirga held in North Waziristan’s headquarters Miranshah. Malik Jalal Khan Manzar Khel said the US was killing innocent women and children in its attacks targeting the Taliban in the Tribal Areas.

He said if the US did not change its strategy, the tribal youth would join the Taliban to fight against the US-led forces in Afghanistan. He also warned that suicide bombers would be sent to Afghanistan to target US and NATO forces.
