Anyone remember these graphs I used to post every month?

However, today I seem to be some sort of Freeper who doesn't realize what a tragedy is going on in Iraq because I made a thread meant to be directed at people who were minimizing today's tragedy at Virginia Tech and even calling it a Rovian ploy.

It gnawed deep inside me every month to update these charts and see the numbers rising with no end in sight.

But, I stopped doing them when they were getting virtually no replies. Seemed the whole of DU was pissed about the entire idea of the Iraq War but didn't want to take stock of what the damage being done of there was.

Today, I'm getting flack from people who largely ignored this in the past but freely bring it up now because they see it as nothing but another Anna Nicole type distraction from the US Attorney hearing testimony or whatever other crime against the Constitution this admin has performed and is now under the gun by a Democratic Congress to be held accountable for.

So, don't even think of telling me I don't know what the hell is going on in Iraq and how horrible it is because I know. I did more research and news gathering on the Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo torture than you could begin to imagine.

I can't stand hypocrisy.

1. I Remember Those Charts and Thought They Were Valuable
if only to confirm that the trend was still intact. Not everyone responds to statistics which confirm that a trend is intact, and I understand your not wanting to continue them without response, but I believe they were considered good information.

Since you brought the subject up, do you have an update or know of a link to a similar chart?

2. I've seen some of that
DU is becoming a cesspool of arguments based on "my view is better than yours" bullshit.

The only thing that keeps me here is the great way DUers band together to do good things (even then you have to go to battle with nay-sayers, as in the roses for Elizabeth Edwards deal), the latest breaking news section (DUers always find what I want to read!), and the many level-headed friends I've made here.

I can't stand hypocrisy either. I've had a tough time with the Imus BS... and being told I'm a racist because I think black women should hold themselves above the vile name calling in rap music... I'm told I can't set self-respect standards for black women because I'm not one of them... I don't think women should be called names like this at all, never, by anyone. Yet I'm told, in the hallowed halls of DU, that I should not tell other women that they should have more self-respect than to allow people to, or say it is ok for some to call them derogatory names, that self-respect for me is different than self-respect for other women because it's a cultural thing. If that's the case, I think we should back off on saying that it's demeaning for women to wear burkas, or be circumcised, or take virginity oaths. Where do culture and tradition end, and self-respect begin? And should they be separate?

Now we have a horrible tragedy being used for personal gain in regards to arguments on DU. Pretty vile, IMHO.

Seems no one wants to hear a differing opinion anymore. I guess we should all just swill the kool aid.

4. I want to think it's Freepers in disguise but when I see posters have been here a long time
and typing some the vile stuff they spew just makes me sad.

5. I always want to think that too...
The mind goes through amazing gyrations when faced with the unbelievable. It tries to make sense of the situation for us, to shelter us from all things horrific.

I think that BushCo is on a "divide and conquer" mission... and it's spilling over onto DU.

6. These Charts Are Outstanding!
Outstanding - These charts show expose the administration/corp press spin (lies) for what they are at a glance.

7. The whole of DU is pissed about something and everything all of the time.
Sometimes I just have to get away from it for awhile because of everybody who is bent out of shape about one thing or another and whose heads will explode if they do not get their ways.

Do your graphs because they are interesting and you like to do them and don't worry about the responses. Also, don't worry about hypocrisy. People tend not to care about their own hypocrisy and hate the hypocrisy of everybody else.

9. I remember and I like the graphs. About DU, it is a big tent. Take what is good for you, leave the
rest. I liked those charts, I mean I hated them but appreciated seeing them.
