Are we on the edge ?
With bush intent on going his course as well as cheney , both act so confident .

Then there is this Iraq escalation and the talk about Iran who they just continue to poke with a big stick .

There are jobs just pouring out of this country , I can't call one single help line whether it is the phone or XM or credit card without talking to someone I know is in Panama or some other far off land . This certainly did not take much time to happen . Plus all the old american manufacturing companies closing or moving out of the country .
We have either costly insurance or none at all and a $10 per hour job if you can find a job at all .

The school system seems to be shot to hell .

I hear everyday about more troops and Iraqis being killed in larger numbers .

It is really difficult to find any good news at all anywhere you look .

Then there are the politicians who seem to be disconnected from reality for the most part .

I wish we knew who provided their funding and had a fly on the wall .

Then there is all the hidden military information we will never see because it does not concern us , so they say .

I really have to wonder where the hell we are heading , it seems to be off a cliff at high speed .

1. The truly sad part is America used to be a beacon for the world...
...and if we implode, it will likely be the prelude to an
extended era of darkness such as followed the fall of the
Roman Empire.

5.  That's what I think
It is really getting close to 1984 and fast . I don;t think we can stop this mad machine . I would have some hope if one thing looked hopeful but the government even with the majority democratic does not give me much hope .

They seem to be dragging their feet and when they finally look up it will be a nuclear blast of blazing light that will get their attention .

7. Why do you hate America?
Look, over there! "American Idol" is on again this week!

Look, over there! Wal-Mart has cut the price of Super-Family-Size Cheetohs!

Look, over there! Bright shiny object!

What a country!

9. But seriously ...
To follow up on myself with a more somber tone, yes, we're on the edge -- and what scares the living crap out of me is how many people are blind to it. The information is readily available to anyone who wants it, whether in a newspaper or even on TV from time to time; there's enough out there to at least spark curiosity in anyone who's even curious.

But we have become, in broad terms, such an uninformed, unenlightened, uncurious people that, yes, all many of us care about is "American Idol," Cheetohs, and bright shiny objects. No wonder we have a "leader" who shares the same characteristics.

10.  That's about it too
We have even allowed the great sterilization of this country where every state seems to look the same other than the landscape . Each state has all the major box stores and all the fast food chains peppering the landscape and if they keep going blasting the mountain tops we will have flatlands .

I recall clearly as a child in the 50's driving from Illinois to Tampa FL each christmas to visit the grandparents that each state in between on the major roads before the interstates cut great swaths through the land there were few brand named motels or hotels but many clean independant ones as well as ma and pa stops for food on the way .

This has all been stripped away to become a common sight of familar horror .

Yes , what a country , kill the spirit , kill the country .

8. The correct term is "Constitutional Crisis"
You and I are about to witness history in the making. You see, for well over 200 years, our country has been boasting about this wonderful Constitution and the principles we live by, and we've been trying to sell the wonders to other nations. One of the overriding principles in that Constitution is the separation of powers. The whole purpose of the separation of powers was to insure that we have representation in government, so that the will of the people shall always be respected. If one governing body were to go off on its own personal crusade, against the will of the people, our Constitution gave powers to the other governing bodies to rectify the imbalance.

So, what we have right now is a Constitutional Crisis. We're about to see if the Democratically elected Congress has the true power to unseat an unpopular president with an unpopular agenda.

Our government was never meant to be run like a business, with one powerful CEO calling the shots. I don't think there's a company out there that really represents government the way our Constitution defines our government. And quite frankly, most corporations have stripped the power away from the stockholder. If someone were truly versed in the business world, maybe they could do a better job of describing the kind of governance that Cheney has been attempting, and how it conflicts with the way that government is suppose to work?
