I have not given up on the public option and I still have positive feelings about all of us having a chance for decent medical care. There are still some good Senators left, Franken, Boxer and Kerry, just to name a few, and we have some real tigers in the house.
I finally got through to one of these tigers this morning after trying last night -mail box full, gee I wonder why?- and trying this morning, only to get a busy single for two solid hours.
Finally, at about ten this morning, an answer, "Office of Congressman Grayson." She had a great voice, something DJs call a money voice, but that's for another story.
I told her she worked for a tiger. I told her that my representative could take lessons from Congressman Grayson. I told her I was thinking of moving to Florida just to do all I can to make sure Alan Grayson retains that seat. After that my recollection of the call gets a bit foggy but at one point I'm pretty sure I blubbered, "I love you, I love Congressman Grayson and I love his whole staff!!!"
It retrospect, maybe I did go a bit too far.
My point is we've all been making the calls. We've all been doing our part to help get the people of this country the health care they really deserve. We've been angry, we've felt abandoned, we've been strident and resolute. We're doing everything we can.
Today, I got to be happy. That's it, just happy. I'd almost forgotten how to tell a staffer that their rep is doing an outstanding job. Today I got to do just that, I got to say so many of the things that have just been waiting there to be said. And it felt great.
If you haven't yet called Congressman Grayson to thank him for having our backs, you should do so today because it beats just about anything.
For you folks lucky enough to be in Fl08, man I envy you. I sure hope you know what a jewel you have in your representative.
Just in case, here's his number in DC- 202 225 2167
