3. I have heard conflicting stories about whether it is even being scored. I can not
get an answer. and if I do, some say yes, some say no.

2. Single payer is the MOST cost effective option for delivering Health CARE to people. That
is why it is "Off the table" from the start. DAMN CORPORATISTS

4. CBO has 676, but hasn't completed the scoring yet.
I have a feeling that the difference between the Baucus plan and 676 will be jaw dropping.

8. I would bet good money on it being a fraction of the cost.

7. Well, it would cost a bunch of health insurance executives
their phony-baloney jobs. Can't argue with that.

9. The question makes no sense in that

No matter what system we use we still pay for health care. Calculating costs is useful for determining how much tax money we will have to raise to pay for it.

All of the current anti reform crap is just a smoke screen for resistance to a system wherein we will pay a lot less but it will be a "tax" as opposed to paying a lot more (for those that CAN pay) in the form of insurance premiums (and having to sell your house to get your kid that operation).

This is one thing that has helped defeat us from the beginning - there is no such thing as "free health care." Calling it that helps confuse the issue.

10. Where are you reading 'free health care' in the OP?
The question was asking about cost comparisons.

Yes, calling single payer 'free' is wrong and undermines the real value of the position - but the OP wasn't doing that.

*standard disclaimer: I have supported and still support a true nationalized, single payer, government run health CARE system*

11. Say NO to Obama's Communist Red China Socialist Government Health Care!
Now, let's go shopping at best store in America... WalMart, because I just received my Social Security check. Later, I have a doctor appointment to make sure I get what is coming to me through Medicare, because it would be nice to get one of those scooters to spin around in.
:sarcasm:

Some people just aren't smart enough to have a voice, let alone a vote.

13. It would actually be less than the public option, because the money
that is being siphoned off by the insurance companies and that will continue to be siphoned off by them cherry picking the young and healthy would instead go into providing health care for all. Studies have shown that health care under a single payer system would cost half per capita of what we pay into it today. On the other hand a public option like Medicare would cover elderly and sicker patients rejected by the insurers making it more expensive per capita than going all the way to a Medicare system like Canada.
