Just thinking outloud on the VA Tech shooting
Just last Tuesday a new movie/documentary (not sure which: I think it was a doc) on Columbine was on Television. Just wondering if this perhaps emboldened an already deranged, spring-loaded individual. I have nothing to prove this - just wondering outloud.

2. That's the kind of things they say at Free Republic.

That just talking about problems creates more.

They're wrong.

Lots of easy to get guns, lots of poor people, and a mental health crisis? Now that may be a problem.

5. What a silly thing to say....
I don't think that this thought or observation is a political one ... It does happen.

4. There's something about this week
Columbine anniversary is coming up, that's why the special aired in the first place.

9. Janet Reno's shooting spree
How many did Reno bag personally. What a ignorant thing to say. You do know that Waco was ongoing before Reno ever came to office don't you? It was the ATF that did the deed. It stems from the practice of awarding in the terms of money to those agencies involved in Rambo tactics which had nothing what so ever to do with Reno.

6. I'm aware of some studies on imatative behavior
Edited on Mon Apr-16-07 12:48 PM by ThoughtCriminal
that suggest suicides can be triggered by highly publicized suicides (Phillips, 1974). Whether that applies to this kind of mass-murder, or if re-dramatizations can have the same effect, I don't know if there have been any studies on that.
